“Co-babymaker” and “own-business-minder” Levi Johnston has rocketed to fame/shame as the father of Bristol Palin’s not-aborted soon-to-be fetus/baby. So says, sort of, the media.
Now, we’ve been told to mind our own business. Unfortunately, Bristol and Levi’s sin is being paraded down to the empty RNC in St. Paul. And to think, all this to counter lies that Sarah herself lied about her most recent pregnancy to cover up a fake/not-fake pregnancy of her daughter. And then continued to lie about it, before reprimanded everybody for not minding their own business.
Seriously: this is politics in the GOP?
Bedrooms of the nation, its leaders
This entire “private matter” issue is deeply insulting. Her daughter, whom she introduced to the country and made a central plank of her candidacy, is suddenly off-limits. Yet, the socially conservative Ms. Palin seeks to invade the dinner tables and bedrooms of families and homes across her country.
The single standard applied by the GOP is sickening and very, very dangerous. People will surely leave social conservatives to their own hypocritical lives when the so-cons leave everyone else to theirs.
Tragically, as Ms. Palin has learned, exploiting her family for political purposes means others feel open to doing the same. And, likewise, nuzzling your attention into the bedrooms of Americans means they’ll do the same to yours.
Yet, the us “minding our own business” continues. From AP:
WASILLA, Alaska (AP) — Bristol Palin’s boyfriend [fiance, no?] plans to join the family of the Republican vice presidential candidate at the GOP convention. Levi Johnston’s mother said her 18-year-old son left Alaska on Tuesday morning to join the Palin family in St. Paul, Minn.
With their arrival, we are expected to not consider the issue a political one? How more political can you get? Especially as Wonkette points us to video of the strange rubdown between Levi ‘redneck’ Johnston and John McCain as they meet on a tarmac.
Myspace Rednecks meet Democracy-lite
Stranger still, is the discussion around Levi’s NewsCorp-MySpace page. In what will increasingly become a problem in the future, his NewsCorp-MySpace social profile is being paraded around the web with all it’s blights and blemishes.
Several fake profiles are emerging and it looks like the original is gone, yet the internet prevails. The New York Post has his original comments:
“I’m a fuckin’ redneck” who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.
“But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some shit and just fuckin’ chillin’ I guess.”
“Ya fuck with me I’ll kick [your] ass,” he added.
He also claims to be “in a relationship,” but states, “I don’t want kids.”
I find his comments quintessentially GOP-American. If the United States from 2001-2008 had a MySpace profile, I imagine it would read something like that.
Levi will fit in nicely with his new GOP family. I look forward to seeing his face on a five dollar bill by the end of the century.
And, as I go home to my boyfriend tonight, politely mind your own fucking business, Ms. Palin.
