Mike Soron's Biography.
Mike is completing a Masters in Urban Studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. He does freelance research and journalism on urban issues, the environment, and politics. He contributes to projects promoting and defending public space, mobility, personal privacy and public transparency.
Mike Soron was born in Calgary, Alberta and re-located to Vancouver, British Columbia with his partner in 2009. He received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Calgary, where he returned to work for students in government relations and student affairs.
He has done research work on climate change governance, transportation and property development in global cities, pedestrianization and peak oil, and youth participatory governance and budgeting. Mike's main research focus is crisis preparation and response in North American cities.
Mike works as an activist in areas of human rights, the environment, nonviolence, transparency, and public space and mobility.
