For some — most perhaps — airships seem a laughable holdover from antiquated, backward times. Conjuring images of noirish paleofuturist comic books and steampunk manga they have held ground in our collective imagination but lost it in real policy and practice.

We often hear about how terrible air travel is as sustainable and economic transportation. Here’s an interesting alternative, whose impossibility is compared to the semi-successful Chunnel.
